A Visit to the Lab
Welcome to the Lab
We would love to have your child participate in a study! In general, we welcome infants and children of all ages, though the precise ages recruited for our current studies can change depending on our specific research questions. If you would like to be added to our participant pool, please enter your information below and we will contact you with more information. We are available to schedule visits weekdays or weekends, so we will be happy to find a time that works for you. Visits typically last one to two hours, but this will vary based on your child's age and the study that they are participating in.
Location
Your visit will be at 202 Cousteau Place in suite 170. Please see the image to the left to see the best places to park. Parking is free in the parking lots so you may park in any space. A research assistant will meet you in the lobby across from the elevators to take you to the suite. Please see the Directions and Contact Info tab for more detailed information.

In the Lab
In our reception area, a researcher will further explain the activities your child will be participating in. You will also be asked to fill out a consent form. If it is easier for you, the consent form can be printed out and brought with you at the time of your visit. At this time, your child will have a chance to acclimate to the lab with toys to play with and other activities to engage in. Siblings are always welcome!

What Will Your Child be Doing?
We use a variety of techniques to get a better idea on how social cognition develops. Some of these techniques include behavioral tasks (answering questions, playing games, eye tracking, etc.) and brain activity recording. We record brain activity through the use of an electroencephalogram (EEG). EEG data is measured with non-invasive sensors that are placed on the scalp that passively "listen in on" what the brain is doing while children process information. All of our studies have been reviewed and approved by the UC Davis Institutional Review Board.
